Which statement is more preposterous?
7. In this week’s town hall meetings, President Obama demonstrated an important aspect of his office: Pastor-in-Chief.–Diana Butler Bass.
10. The problem with evangelicalism is the fact that a great majority of them are not saved. (like Oprah)–Louis commenting on JesusCreed.com
You can’t get much better than Diana Butler Bass when it comes to serving up partisan laced drivel with a little God-talk thrown in, but don’t be so sure she can just roll over Louis. While Bass thinks Obama is out there binding the nation’s wounds and caring for the sick, widows, and orphans (like Oprah), Louis is making sure everyone knows that people who identify themselves as evangelicals is not saved (like Oprah). Oprah is haning it up, though, so we can’t reference her as an example for all our hope and anguish anymore. Louis prefers that we all become Calvinists; then everything will be better.
