But I do know that if someone wrote a memoir on my life, focusing on all of my mistakes, I'd sound like a pretty horrible person. And maybe I am. But fortunately God's grace covers that. I wish I had the quote, but I think CS Lewis addresses this issue in Mere Christianity. He says (basically) that it's not so much how horrible our behavior is once we find God, it's how much worse it would be without God. I don’t know enough about Schaeffer or his son to have any idea how much of this is true or not. But I do know that if someone wrote a memoir on my life, focusing on all of my mistakes, I’d sound like a pretty horrible person.

And maybe I am.

But fortunately God’s grace covers that.
